Sonic Design:Final Project 5/12/2024 - 5/1/2025 (Week15 - Week 17)  LI YUHAN / 0379857 For the final project of our "Sound Design" course, our core task was to reconstruct all the sound effects for a silent game video. This was a complete build from the ground up, covering environmental atmosphere, character actions, and various interactive sounds. Project Planning and Professional Recording After understanding the project requirements at the beginning of the semester, I began planning. In week eleven, having selected the first vedio as my source material, I promptly booked the school's recording studio, hoping to complete the core sound effects in a professional environment. On Monday morning, I entered the recording studio with two classmates and began working under the full guidance of our instructor, Mr. Razif. Thanks to the professional equipment and environment, we efficiently recorded a large number of dialogue lines, routine action sounds, and material interaction...

Sonic Design:Project 2 21/10/2024 - 8/12/2024 (Week 9 - Week 11) LI YUHAN (0379857) Link to GoogleDrive Files    This is a classic fairy tale familiar to everyone: The Frog Prince. In the story, the frog helps the princess retrieve her beloved golden ball, and they become friends. In the end, they marry happily. However, due to time constraints, my project couldn't cover the entire story. After consulting Mr. RAZIF, he suggested I focus on a 3-minute segment and leave the story unfinished. So that's what I did for this project. The story begins with the little princess receiving the golden ball and continues through the frog prince helping her retrieve it, but it doesn't reach the final scene where they become friends.    Thus, the main characters in my excerpted story are the princess and the prince-turned-frog. Since the story describes the little princess as a cute, clever, and quick-witted girl, I deliberately used a higher-pitched voice for her during recording ...

Sonic Design:Project 1 WEEK1-WEEK14 LI YUHAN (0379857) This task requires us to create our own audio. The options are: 1. Wildlife + Background 2. Daily Home Life + Background 3. City + Traffic + External Atmosphere 4. Industrial and electronic sounds + background 5. Weather + background 6. Market + rural ambiance + background When selecting a scene, I chose option 5 and created a soundscape depicting a coastal factory enduring a storm. Using the website Freesound provided by my instructor, Mr. Razif, I also sourced the necessary sound effects for the project. To make the source audio better match the ambient atmosphere, I used some editing tools: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c0FQbs1fAqrg3jvIyJreDfuLxkLfqpIr/view?usp=sharing

Sonic Design(Exercises)

Sonic Design:Projects WEEK1-WEEK14 LI YUHAN (0379857) Exercise 1 In Exercise 1, I compared the original "Flat" sample with the six equalized tracks one by one in Multitrack View. While listening carefully through headphones, I noticed distinct differences: some tracks had sharp high frequencies, others sounded muffled with excessive bass, and some presented a blurred soundstage. The objective of this practice was to use the parametric equalizer to progressively adjust frequency parameters until all modified versions closely matched the acoustic characteristics of the flat reference sample. eq1: I found the sound a bit sharp and thin compared to the flat standard tone, so I boosted the low frequencies to make it rounder and more powerful. eq1 eq2: I felt the EQ2's sound needed more body and presence, so I both lowered the bass and boosted the treble. eq2 eq3: I slightly boosted both the low and high frequencies to make it sound more immersive and a bit higher in pitch. eq3...
